Fijiana celebrated a significant triumph in the ninth place final at the Perth 7s, with Kelerayani Luvu emerging as a standout performer. The team secured a 26-7 victory over Great Britain, with Luvu scoring two tries and successfully converting three others.

Great Britain initially took the lead with a try from Lauren Torley just two minutes into the match. However, Fijiana quickly responded with back-to-back tries from Vika Nakacia and Luvu, who then added conversions to bring the score to 14-7 by halftime. During the break, Grace Crompton scored for Team GB, narrowing the gap at 14-12.

In the second half, Luvu extended Fijiana’s lead by combining effectively with captain Sesenieli Donu and Lavena Cavuru. Even though Ellie Boatman, the season’s top scorer, kept the pressure on with a try for Great Britain, Fijiana’s determination ensured they finished strong. Replacement Silika Qalo scored the fourth try, sealing the victory for the Timoci Volavola-coached side.

This victory marks a remarkable improvement for the Fijiana side, particularly after their last performances in Dubai, where they finished at the bottom, and in Cape Town, where they placed tenth. The latest match showcases the resilience and growth of the team, signaling a promising future as they continue to strengthen their skills and strategies in upcoming tournaments.

As fans reflect on Fijiana’s journey, it’s evident that each match serves as a valuable learning experience. The team’s recent success in Perth proves that with dedication and hard work, they can rise from past disappointments and aim for even higher achievements in women’s rugby.
