The Fijiana XVs team is acclimating well in Edinburgh ahead of their Test match against Scotland scheduled for Sunday morning (Fiji time) at the Hive Stadium. Asinate Serevi, a lock for the Fijiana squad, shared her thoughts with SUNsports, stating that the team is adjusting and understands the challenges ahead.
Serevi remarked, “Scotland is definitely cold but it’s been nice; such a fun experience.” She also noted that the long flight was challenging due to the time difference and weather conditions, but the overall experience has been enjoyable.
The squad features five debutants, including three players from overseas and two from local clubs. The new additions to the team are Penina Turova, Mary Kanace, Iva Sauira, Una Lalabalavu, and Loraini Senivutu.
Head coach Mosese Rauluni previously emphasized the importance of having three international players train in Fiji for several months, highlighting their successful integration with the local team members.
Several local players who debuted in the Vodafone Fijiana’s matches against Japan last month have also maintained their positions in the current squad. These players include Salanieta Nabuli, Tiana Robanakadavu, Unaisi Lalabalavu, Salanieta Kinita, Merewairita Neivosa, and Atelaite Buna.
The Fijiana XV prepares for another milestone as they will travel to the Netherlands for their inaugural match against the Orange Ladies. This much-anticipated game will take place on Thursday, September 19, at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam. The WXV 3 tournament will see the Fijiana XV compete alongside teams from Colombia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Spain, and Kenya, with Fiji’s first match against Colombia scheduled for October 13.
