The Fijiana XVs team is currently settling in Edinburgh ahead of their Test match against Scotland on Sunday morning (Fiji time) at the Hive Stadium. In an interview with SUNsports, lock Asinate Serevi remarked that the players are adapting well and are focused on their objectives.
“Scotland is definitely cold, but it’s been a fun experience,” she stated.
She described the long flight as challenging due to the time difference and the weather, but added that it feels great to be there.
The squad features five debutants, three of whom are from overseas and two from local clubs. The new players include Penina Turova, Mary Kanace, Iva Sauira, Una Lalabalavu, and Loraini Senivutu.
Head coach Mosese Rauluni highlighted the benefits of having the three international players train with the team in Fiji, noting, “They have been in camp for a few months and are integrating well with the local players.”
Several local players who debuted in the Vodafone Fijiana’s tests against Japan last month have maintained their positions in the squad. These include Salanieta Nabuli, Tiana Robanakadavu, Unaisi Lalabalavu, Salanieta Kinita, Merewairita Neivosa, and Atelaite Buna.
The Fijiana XV will also be making history as they prepare for their first-ever match against the Netherlands’ Orange Ladies. This highly anticipated encounter is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, at NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam. The WXV 3 tournament will feature teams including Colombia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Spain, and Kenya, with Fiji’s opening game set against Colombia on October 13.
