Fijiana XVs Prepare for Historic Test Match Against Scotland

The Fijiana XVs rugby team is settling into Edinburgh ahead of their Test match against Scotland, scheduled for Sunday morning (Fiji time) at the Hive Stadium. In an interview with SUNsports, Fijiana lock Asinate Serevi expressed that the team is adapting well despite the chilly conditions.

Serevi described Scotland as “definitely cold” but also shared that the experience has been enjoyable. She acknowledged the challenges posed by a long flight and significant time zone differences, yet she remains positive about the journey.

The squad features five debutants, including three international players and two from local clubs. The new players are Penina Turova, Mary Kanace, Iva Sauira, Una Lalabalavu, and Loraini Senivutu. Head coach Mosese Rauluni highlighted the benefit of having the three international players training with the team in Fiji, noting their successful integration with local talent.

Several local players who made their debuts during the Vodafone Fijiana’s matches against Japan last month have also retained their positions in the team. These players include Salanieta Nabuli, Tiana Robanakadavu, Unaisi Lalabalavu, Salanieta Kinita, Merewairita Neivosa, and Atelaite Buna.

Following the match against Scotland, the Fijiana XV is gearing up for another significant milestone as they head to the Netherlands for their inaugural match against the Orange Ladies. This anticipated game is set for Thursday, September 19, at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam. The upcoming WXV 3 tournament will feature teams from Colombia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Spain, and Kenya, with Fiji’s first match against Colombia on October 13.
