Fijiana XVs Gearing Up for Scotland Showdown

The Fijiana XVs team is settling in Edinburgh ahead of their Test match against Scotland on Sunday morning (Fiji time) at the Hive Stadium. Fijiana lock Asinate Serevi shared that the team is adapting well and is focused on the challenge ahead.

“Scotland is definitely cold, but it’s been a fun experience,” she remarked.

She noted that the long flight was exhausting due to the time difference and weather, but overall, things are good.

The squad features five debutants, three of whom are from overseas and two from local clubs. The new players include Penina Turova, Mary Kanace, Iva Sauira, Una Lalabalavu, and Loraini Senivutu.

Head coach Mosese Rauluni highlighted the integration of the international players, stating, “It’s good to have the three international players training with us in Fiji. They have been in camp for a few months and are blending well with the local players.”

Several local players who debuted in the Vodafone Fijiana’s tests against Japan last month have also been retained in the squad. These players are Salanieta Nabuli, Tiana Robanakadavu, Unaisi Lalabalavu, Salanieta Kinita, Merewairita Neivosa, and Atelaite Buna.

The Fijiana XV will also be making history as they prepare to travel to the Netherlands for their first-ever match against the Orange Ladies. This much-anticipated fixture is set for Thursday, September 19, at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam. The WXV 3 tournament will include teams from Colombia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Spain, Kenya, and Fiji, with Fiji’s opening game against Colombia on October 13.
