The Fijiana XVs team is currently settling in Edinburgh in preparation for their test match against Scotland on Sunday morning (Fiji time) at the Hive Stadium. In an interview with SUNsports, Fijiana lock Asinate Serevi shared that the team is adjusting well and is aware of the challenges that lie ahead.
Serevi commented on the cold weather in Scotland, describing it as a fun experience despite the chill. She also noted that the long flight was exhausting due to the time difference and varying weather conditions, but overall, the experience has been enjoyable.
The squad features five debutants, including three international players and two from local clubs. The newcomers are Penina Turova, Mary Kanace, Iva Sauira, Una Lalabalavu, and Loraini Senivutu.
Head coach Mosese Rauluni highlighted the benefit of having the three international players train in Fiji for a few months, stating they are effectively blending in with the local talent.
Several local players who made their debuts in the Vodafone Fijiana’s matches against Japan last month have retained their positions in the squad. These players include Salanieta Nabuli, Tiana Robanakadavu, Unaisi Lalabalavu, Salanieta Kinita, Merewairita Neivosa, and Atelaite Buna.
The Fijiana XV will also be making a historic trip to the Netherlands to play their first match against the Orange Ladies. This eagerly awaited game is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam. The WXV 3 tournament will feature teams such as Colombia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Spain, and Kenya, with Fiji’s first game against Colombia set for October 13.
