The Fijiana XVs team is acclimating well in Edinburgh ahead of their Test match against Scotland scheduled for Sunday morning (Fiji time) at Hive Stadium. Fijiana lock Asinate Serevi shared that the players are adapting and are aware of the challenge they face.
“Scotland is definitely cold, but it’s been such a fun experience,” she stated.
Serevi noted that the long flight was taxing due to the time difference and chilly conditions, but overall, it has been a pleasant experience.
The squad features five debutants, including three from overseas and two from local clubs. The newcomers are Penina Turova, Mary Kanace, Iva Sauira, Una Lalabalavu, and Loraini Senivutu.
Head coach Mosese Rauluni commented in a previous interview, “It’s good to have the three international players training with us in Fiji. They have been in camp for a few months and are integrating well with the local players.”
Several local players who debuted in the Fiji Fijiana tests against Japan last month have also retained their spots in the team. These players include Salanieta Nabuli, Tiana Robanakadavu, Unaisi Lalabalavu, Salanieta Kinita, Merewairita Neivosa, and Atelaite Buna.
Looking ahead, the Fijiana XV will make history by traveling to the Netherlands for their first-ever match against the Orange Ladies. This eagerly awaited match is set to take place on Thursday, September 19, at NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam. The WXV 3 tournament will feature teams from Colombia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Spain, and Kenya, with Fiji’s inaugural game against Colombia scheduled for October 13.
