Fijiana XVs Gear Up for Historic Clash in Scotland

The Fijiana XV rugby team is settling in well in Edinburgh ahead of their Test match against Scotland on Sunday morning (Fiji time) at Hive Stadium. Fijiana lock Asinate Serevi shared with SUNsports that the players are adapting to their surroundings and understanding the challenge ahead.

“Scotland is definitely cold but it’s been a fun experience,” she remarked. Serevi acknowledged that the lengthy flight and the time zone changes were challenging, but overall, she is pleased with the team’s acclimatization.

The squad features five debutants, including three players from overseas and two from local clubs. The newcomers are Penina Turova, Mary Kanace, Iva Sauira, Una Lalabalavu, and Loraini Senivutu.

Head coach Mosese Rauluni also commented on the integration of international players, saying, “It’s good to have the three international players training with us in Fiji. They have been in camp for a few months and are integrating well with the local players.”

Several local players who debuted in the Vodafone Fijiana’s matches against Japan last month have maintained their positions in the squad, including Salanieta Nabuli, Tiana Robanakadavu, Unaisi Lalabalavu, Salanieta Kinita, Merewairita Neivosa, and Atelaite Buna.

The Fijiana XV will also embark on a historic trip to the Netherlands for their inaugural match against the Orange Ladies. This eagerly awaited match is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, at the NRCA Stadium in Amsterdam. The WXV 3 tournament will include Fijiana XV, Colombia, Ireland, Kazakhstan, Spain, and Kenya, with Fiji’s opening game against Colombia on October 13.
