Fijiana XV Welcomes New Talent from ANZ Marama Cup

Four exceptional players from the ANZ Marama Cup have been chosen to join the Vodafone Fijiana XV extended squad for their upcoming test matches against Scotland and the Netherlands this month. The selected players, all from the Suva Women’s team, are Alisi Galo, Alfreda Fisher, Adi Salaseini Railumu, and Ivamere Nabura.

This selection underscores the success of the ANZ Marama Cup, which has become an essential platform for identifying and developing rugby talent in Fiji. Mike Legge, the coach of Fiji Rugby’s High Performance Women’s Program, expressed his enthusiasm about the new additions to the Fijiana squad.

“It’s a very special moment for the HPU Women’s Program to have these new girls selected for the upcoming tour. Currently, we have 12 players from our High-Performance group in that squad,” Legge stated.

He highlighted the importance of local competitions in creating a pathway for athletes aiming for national and international representation. “The dream of every HPU girl is to wear the Fijiana jersey and join the Fijiana Drua. Their selection demonstrates that the pathway is available for our local players, especially those participating in the ANZ Marama Cup,” he added.
