The match, held at the Sevens Stadium in the United Arab Emirates, was crucial for the rankings of both teams. Samoa’s victory allowed them to move ahead of Fiji, climbing to 15th place, while the Fijiana XV dropped to 16th.
Prior to the match, Fiji ranked three spots higher than Samoa and had a 2.92-point advantage. This outcome altered the rankings, making Samoa the higher-rated team after moving up two positions.
