The stage is set for an exhilarating Women’s Rugby World Cup in England in 2025, with the Vodafone Fijiana XV being placed in Pool B alongside Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The complete draw schedule will be announced shortly.
This prestigious event will feature a thrilling series of matches from September 7 to October 28, 2025.
Alana Thomas, the FRU Women’s High Performance Unit Manager, shared her excitement about the upcoming tournament. She stated, “Being drawn in such a competitive pool reflects the growth of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are looking forward to the challenge and are determined to represent our nation with pride.”
Thomas added, “The Vodafone Fijiana XV are thrilled to know our opponents for England next August. This RWC is expected to be a transformative moment for women’s rugby.”
She noted the team’s recent experience during a northern tour, where they faced Scotland in their first match. Although the result was not as desired, the experience enhanced their understanding of the Six Nations style of play.
“The northern tour also allowed us to travel to the other side of the world, experience a different climate, and deal with the demands of long-term touring—factors that can significantly influence performance,” Thomas continued.
After participating in the WXV3 competition in Dubai, the Vodafone Fijiana XV has returned home and completed their exit review. The team will take a break before reconvening in November to begin their training in preparation for the World Cup.
