The Vodafone Fijiana XV is gearing up for their match against the Wallaroos at Sydney’s Allianz Stadium this Saturday.
Head coach Mosese Rauluni emphasized the need for his team to perform at their best against the fifth-ranked women’s rugby team.
“The players have been training well and have shown significant improvement since the Japan game. However, the real test will be on Saturday against the Wallaroos,” Rauluni stated.
“Despite the Wallaroos losing all their test matches so far, they remain a formidable opponent.”
Rauluni highlighted the challenges of playing away, noting that the colder conditions in Sydney may pose an additional hurdle.
“We are playing away in Australia, where the conditions will be much colder than our last visit. We must not underestimate the Wallaroos and need to be at the top of our game,” he added.
The coach pointed out that the team aims to leverage their backline with fast ball delivery to counter the Wallaroos’ varying attack formations.
“Defending against the Wallaroos’ different shapes and formations will be crucial,” he said.
Rauluni is hopeful for significant support from the Fijian community in Sydney.
“It was beneficial to have our contact session in Fiji before heading to Sydney. Our focus will be on getting the basics right and preparing thoroughly for Saturday,” he remarked.
The match is set to kick off at 6:45 PM.
