The anticipation is building for the Women’s Rugby World Cup, set to take place in England in 2025, featuring an array of top-seeded teams vying for historic recognition.

The Vodafone Fijiana XV will compete in Pool B alongside Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The full match schedule will be revealed soon, with the tournament running from September 7 to October 28, 2025.

Alana Thomas, the Women’s High Performance Unit Manager for the Fiji Rugby Union, shared her excitement about the upcoming event. “Being placed in such a competitive pool reflects the growth of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are ready to embrace the challenge and proudly represent our country,” Thomas stated.

The Vodafone Fijiana XV team is thrilled to have completed the pool draw and is looking forward to facing their opponents in England next August. This tournament is expected to significantly impact the women’s game.

Following a recent tour of the north, where they faced Scotland in their first match, the team gained valuable experience, despite not achieving the desired outcome. Thomas noted the advantages of the tour, including exposure to the Six Nations style of play and the chance to adapt to different weather conditions, all of which can affect performance.

After a stint in the WXV3 competition in Dubai, the Vodafone Fijiana XV has returned home and completed their exit review. They will now take a break before resuming training in November.

Thomas expressed her gratitude to the players and staff for what was the most successful season in the team’s history, featuring 11 test matches that led to RWC qualification, winning the Oceania Championship, and securing the team’s first victory over Japan.

As the countdown to the 2025 Rugby World Cup begins, excitement is palpable among players and fans. The Vodafone Fijiana XV is eager to leave their mark on the global stage, bringing the essence of Fiji to England and beyond.
