The Vodafone Fijiana XV side is focused on preparations for their upcoming match against the Wallaroos at the Allianz Stadium in Sydney this Saturday.
Head coach Mosese Rauluni emphasized the need for his team to perform well against the fifth-ranked team in women’s rugby.
“The players have been training well and they’ve improved a lot since the Japan game, but time will tell when we go against the Wallaroos on Saturday,” Rauluni stated.
Despite the Wallaroos’ unsuccessful test matches so far, Rauluni believes they remain formidable opponents.
“It will be a tough encounter against the Wallaroos on their home ground,” he said. “We are playing away, in different conditions, so it’s going to be a lot colder compared to the last time we were in Australia.”
The coach stressed the importance of not underestimating their opponents. “We can’t take them lightly as we have to be on song,” he remarked.
Rauluni plans to capitalize on their backline with fast ball delivery and maintain strong defensive tactics against the Wallaroos’ varied offensive formations.
“We have to defend well against the Wallaroos’ different shapes and formations in attack,” he explained.
The coach also expressed hope for a substantial turnout of support from the Fijian community in Sydney for their match against the Wallaroos.
“It was great to get our contact session here in Fiji and go to Sydney,” Rauluni said. “We’ll just do the basics right and prepare well for Saturday.”
The match is set to kick off at 6:45 pm.
