The Vodafone Fijiana XV women’s team is gearing up for a crucial first-round match against Hong Kong China in the WXV3 tournament, set to take place in Dubai tomorrow. Head coach Mosese Rauluni has expressed confidence in the team’s preparations despite previous disappointing results against Scotland and the Netherlands.

Rauluni noted that while the performances in the test matches were not ideal, the team has been training hard and is eager to regain their confidence with a solid performance against Hong Kong China. “Our test matches against Scotland and the Netherlands were not good, but we have been training well. Now that we are in Dubai’s heat, we can’t wait to face Hong Kong China, and hopefully, we can build our confidence again,” Rauluni stated. He also mentioned that the team’s spirits are high and that the players are looking forward to the upcoming game.

Despite some injury challenges, Rauluni is optimistic about the players’ recovery progress. Additionally, the integration of athletes from the High-Performance Unit (HPU) into the squad has been beneficial. The coach highlighted the learning experience for these players, as the test matches against tougher teams helped them grow. “The HPU girls have been performing well, and these matches provide them with invaluable experience. Playing 11 tests this year will allow them to improve and strengthen our back lines,” he said.

As the Fijiana prepares to take on Hong Kong China, they aim to leverage their strengths in ball carrying and defense, hoping to establish their dominance early in the match and maintain pressure on their competitors. The Fijiana’s campaign will officially kick off against Hong Kong at 2 am tomorrow.
