The Vodafone Fijiana XV team is gearing up for their match against the Wallaroos at Allianz Stadium in Sydney this Saturday.
Head coach Mosese Rauluni emphasized the importance of the team being in top form against the world’s fifth-ranked women’s rugby team.
“The players have been training well and have shown significant improvement since the Japan game, but we will truly see where we stand when we face the Wallaroos on Saturday,” Rauluni explained. “Although the Wallaroos have lost all their test matches so far, they remain a formidable opponent.”
Rauluni noted the challenge of playing the Wallaroos on their home turf, highlighting different conditions as a factor. “Playing away means dealing with a different environment, which is going to be much colder than when we last played in Australia,” he said.
“We mustn’t underestimate the Wallaroos; we need to be completely focused and perform at our best.”
Rauluni also mentioned the strategy of utilizing their backline through swift ball delivery. “We need to defend effectively against the various shapes and formations the Wallaroos present in their attack,” he stated.
He expressed hope for robust support from the Fijian community in Sydney. “It was beneficial to have our contact sessions here in Fiji before heading to Sydney,” Rauluni said. “Our aim is to get the basics right and prepare thoroughly for Saturday.”
The match is scheduled to kick off at 6:45 pm.
