Fijiana XV Gears Up for a Crucial Clash Against Spain

Fijiana XV coach Mosese Rauluni stated that it’s back to the drawing board as the team gears up for its upcoming match against Spain this Sunday at 4:30 AM. Competing in the WXV3 tournament at The Sevens Stadium in Dubai, Fijiana started strong with a decisive 38-3 win over Hong Kong China but faced a setback with a 17-45 loss to Samoa. The defeat has placed Samoa one spot above Fiji, ranked 15th.

Rauluni mentioned, “We’ll review this game against Samoa and then we move forward to Spain, who are a very polished side. Every opponent in this WXV3 competition has been very tough, and we need to focus on our fundamentals and assess ourselves before facing Spain.”

Spain also comes into this match with momentum after defeating the Netherlands 20-0 last week. Their victory alongside Samoa enhances their potential for qualifying for the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup.

Spain will be aiming for a victory over Fiji to boost their chances of World Cup qualification while also edging closer to winning the WXV3 trophy. Despite the loss to Samoa, Fijiana captain Karalaini Naisewa remains optimistic about the team’s prospects against Spain, stating, “We will try next time against Spain and give it our best.”
