Fijiana XV Gears Up for 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup Showdown!

The anticipation is building for the Women’s Rugby World Cup in England in 2025, as the Vodafone Fijiana XV has been placed in Pool B, alongside Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The complete draw schedule will be announced soon.

The tournament is set to take place from September 7 to October 28, 2025, featuring a thrilling lineup of matches.

Alana Thomas, the Manager of the FRU Women’s High Performance Unit, shared her excitement about the upcoming competition. “Being drawn in such a competitive pool highlights the growth of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are eager to meet the challenge and represent our nation with pride,” Thomas remarked.

She added, “The Vodafone Fijiana XV are thrilled that the pool draw has been finalized, and now we know our opponents in England next August. This World Cup is expected to be a pivotal moment for women’s rugby.”

Reflecting on their recent tour, Thomas mentioned, “We recently returned from a northern tour where we faced Scotland in our first match. Although the outcome was not as we had hoped, it provided us with valuable experience of the Six Nations style of rugby.”

She also noted the benefits of the northern tour, stating, “It enabled us to travel across the globe, experience different weather conditions, and adapt to extended touring, all of which are crucial for performance.”

The Vodafone Fijiana XV has returned home after competing in the WXV3 tournament in Dubai and has completed their exit review. The team will take a break before reconvening in November to begin their training sessions.
