The stage is set for an exhilarating Women’s Rugby World Cup in England in 2025, where the Vodafone Fijiana XV will compete in Pool B alongside Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The complete schedule for the tournament will be announced soon.
The matches are slated to occur from September 7 through October 28, 2025. Alana Thomas, the Manager of the FRU Women’s High Performance Unit, shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming event.
“Being placed in such a competitive pool reflects the growth of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are looking forward to the challenge and are committed to representing our nation with pride,” Thomas said.
Thomas also noted, “The Vodafone Fijiana XV are thrilled that the pool draw is finalized, and we now know our opponents in England next August. This Rugby World Cup is expected to be a significant milestone for women’s rugby.”
The team recently returned from a northern hemisphere tour, where they faced Scotland in their first match. Although the outcome was not as hoped, the experience provided valuable exposure to the Six Nations-style of rugby.
“The northern tour also allowed us to travel across the world, experience the different climates, and adapt to prolonged touring, all of which affect performance,” Thomas added.
The Vodafone Fijiana XV has returned home following their participation in the WXV3 competition in Dubai and has completed their exit review. The team will take a break before regrouping in November to begin their training.
