Vodafone Fijiana XV head coach Mosese Rauluni has acknowledged the need for improvement after the team experienced a challenging loss to the Scotland Women’s team, finishing 59-15 in their first test match on Sunday.
Rauluni noted that while the team’s fitness is robust, their on-field decision-making requires attention. He highlighted that despite their efforts to remain competitive and attack relentlessly, moments of subpar performance allowed Scotland to score easily.
The coach identified difficulties in set pieces and passing, particularly due to the windy Scottish conditions, which complicated their game plan. “The team fought till the end, but there were several instances where we were lacking and conceded easy points,” Rauluni stated. He also spoke about the challenges of passing in the windy weather, mentioning that attempts at offloading and executing push passes did not always yield positive results.
Rauluni also pointed out the consequence of receiving two yellow cards during the match, underlining the importance of learning from these mistakes to improve future performances. Fijiana is set to face the Netherlands at 5:30 AM on Friday.
