Vodafone Fijiana XV head coach Mosese Rauluni recognized the need for improvement after the team’s disappointing 59-15 defeat to the Scotland Women’s team in their first test match on Sunday. Rauluni stated that while the team’s fitness is strong, their on-field decision-making requires refinement.
Despite their relentless efforts to attack, Rauluni pointed out several performance lapses that resulted in conceding easy points. He emphasized the team’s struggles with set pieces and decision-making during the match, exacerbated by the windy conditions in Scotland.
“The team fought till the end, but there were significant gaps where we were lacking and gave away easy points,” Rauluni commented. “In this beautiful Scottish weather, even without rain, the wind affected our passing. We were trying to offload and execute push passes, but the execution was inconsistent.”
Rauluni also highlighted the challenges posed by receiving two yellow cards and the importance of learning from these mistakes. The Fijiana XV will face the Netherlands on Friday at 5:30 am.
