Fijiana XV Aims for Glory in 2025 Rugby World Cup

The stage is set for an exhilarating Women’s Rugby World Cup in England in 2025, featuring four draws that include the top-seeded teams eager to make their mark in history.

The Vodafone Fijiana XV will compete in Pool B, facing off against Canada, Scotland, and Wales. The complete draw schedule is expected to be released shortly. Matches will occur between September 7 and October 28, 2025, promising an exciting array of competitions.

Alana Thomas, the FRU Women’s High Performance Unit Manager, shared her enthusiasm for the tournament. “Being placed in such a strong pool reflects the impressive growth of women’s rugby in Fiji. We are prepared to embrace this challenge and represent our nation with pride,” Thomas stated.

“The Vodafone Fijiana XV is thrilled now that the pool draw has been finalized so we can look forward to our opponents in England next August. This Rugby World Cup is expected to transform the women’s game,” she added.

Thomas also noted the valuable experience gained during their recent northern tour, where they played Scotland. “While the result wasn’t what we had hoped for, it provided us insight into the Six Nations style of rugby. Traveling to the northern hemisphere allows us to acclimatize to different weather conditions and adjust to long-term touring, all of which can influence our performance,” she explained.

After returning from the WXV3 competition in Dubai and completing their exit review, the Vodafone Fijiana XV will take a short break before reconvening in November for training sessions.

“I want to express my gratitude to the players and staff for this remarkable season, which was our biggest yet with 11 test matches. We qualified for the RWC, secured the Oceania Championship, and achieved our first victory against Japan,” said Thomas.

As the countdown to the 2025 Rugby World Cup begins, excitement is mounting among both players and fans. The Vodafone Fijiana XV is prepared to shine on the global stage, bringing the spirit of Fiji to England and beyond.
