The Fijiana 15s have embarked on an essential preparation phase as they gear up for their upcoming match against the Wallaroos and the Oceania Women’s Series set for mid-April. Naca Cawanibuka, the General Manager of High Performance for the Fiji Rugby Union, confirmed that the national women’s team is currently in the first week of their training camp, which features a structured program aimed at enhancing their performance and bolstering their competitiveness on the international stage.
Cawanibuka noted, “The women are now into their first week of national camp, to be followed by another week next week.” Following this initial camp, players will enter a week of Daily Training Environments (DTEs) where they will return home but participate in daily monitored sessions at designated high-performance training centers.
After the DTE period, the team will reconvene for an additional two-week training camp in preparation for their fixture in Canberra against the Wallaroos. Post-match, the Fijiana will return to Fiji for a week of recovery before shifting their focus to the Oceania Women’s Series, which will take place in Fiji. Participation from Samoa and Tonga has been confirmed, while the inclusion of Japan is still pending confirmation.
Cawanibuka emphasized the importance of this campaign in fortifying the women’s rugby program, highlighting their commitment to establishing consistency within Fiji Rugby’s performance systems. The Fijiana are striving to elevate their performance levels, enhancing their stature both regionally and internationally. This preparation period not only aims to improve skills and strategies but also to inspire confidence within the team as they pursue greater achievements in the sport.
