The Fijiana 7s team currently holds the 11th position in the HSBC SVNS Series standings following the first leg of the tournament. The squad, featuring nine debutants under coach Timoci Volavola, faced significant challenges over the past two weeks, but the experience gained will be invaluable for their development.
After finishing at the bottom during the Dubai 7s, the Fijiana showed improvement by securing a 10th place finish in the subsequent Cape Town leg. They now have four points and sit just above Spain, who is in 12th place on the Women’s World SVNS Series points table.
In contrast, New Zealand leads the standings with 36 points after clinching a silver medal in Dubai and a gold medal in Cape Town. Australia follows closely in second place with 34 points, while France holds third with two bronze medals and a total of 32 points.
This season, though challenging, provides an essential opportunity for the Fijiana 7s team to grow and develop, especially with a young roster. Their determination and resilience could pave the way for stronger performances in future legs. The learning experiences from these tournaments will undoubtedly bolster their team dynamics and skills as they aim to climb the standings in the coming competitions.
