The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team narrowly lost 24-19 to France in a closely contested match during their second pool game at the Singapore 7s. France surged ahead early, with Alycia Christiaens scoring two tries and converting the first, establishing a 17-0 lead before Fiji responded.

As the first half came to a close, Verenaisi Ditavutu managed to touch down for Fiji, bringing the score to 17-7 at halftime. The Fijiana team approached the second half with increased vigor, with tries from Michell Seruvatu and Mere Vocevoce reigniting hopes for a comeback. This ability to rebound from setbacks gives fans reason to remain optimistic about their journey in the tournament and future matches. Previous successes, including a notable win against France in prior competitions, reflect the Fijiana team’s growing capabilities in women’s rugby.

The tournament continues to provide a platform for these athletes to develop their skills and confidence, laying a hopeful foundation for the future of Fijian women’s rugby on the international stage.
