The Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s team secured a sixth-place finish at the Vancouver leg of the HSBC Sevens World Series, facing off against Canada in a competitive fifth-place play-off held at BC Place. The match saw Canada take an early lead, scoring first and establishing a significant advantage as they moved into halftime.

Despite a strong effort from Fiji in the second half, where they sought to turn the tide, Canada’s initial dominance proved decisive. Fiji showed resilience, responding with three tries during the latter part of the match. Atelaite Ralivanawa initiated the scoring for Fiji, followed by tries from Mariana Talatoka and Adi Vani Buleki, which kept the team in contention. Conversions from Ana Maria Naimasi and Kelerayani Luvu further narrowed the gap.

Ultimately, despite Fiji’s spirited fightback and late-game pressure, it was Canada that sealed the win, preserving their lead in the final moments and securing fifth place, while Fiji concluded the tournament in sixth position. This performance demonstrates the Fijiana’s capability and competitive spirit, setting a promising stage for future tournaments.
