The Fijiana 7s team currently occupies the 11th position in the HSBC SVNS Series standings following the first leg of the circuit. Under coach Timoci Volavola, the squad included nine debut players who faced tough challenges over the past two weeks, but this experience will be invaluable for their development.

After a difficult outing in Dubai, where they finished last, the Fijiana showed resilience by achieving a 10th place finish in Cape Town just one week later. With a total of four points, they sit just above Spain in 12th place on the Women’s World SVNS Series points table.

Leading the standings is New Zealand, having amassed 36 points from a silver medal in Dubai and a gold in Cape Town. Australia follows closely in second place with 34 points, while France holds third with 32 points garnered from two bronze medal finishes.

Overall, while the Fijiana 7s team has faced challenges, their ability to learn and improve indicates potential for brighter performances in the future. This experience for the young players will benefit them as they continue to grow and develop in the competitive landscape of women’s rugby.
