Three players from the Fijiana 15s team have joined the Fiji Airways Fijiana 7s squad as preparations ramp up for the upcoming HSBC Sevens World Series. Captain Alfreda Fisher, Kolora Lomani, and Adi Salote Nailolo were seen training with the sevens team on Wednesday at the Uprising Sports Centre in Pacific Harbour.
All three players were part of the Fijiana 15s team that participated in the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup and are currently competing for a spot in the squad for the Singapore 7s, which is set to take place from January 31 to February 2.
Fisher and Lomani both bring valuable experience in the sevens format; Lomani competed with the Fijiana 7s team during the 2024 Olympic Games in France, while Fisher was part of the national women’s 7s extended squad three years prior. Fisher’s journey also included serving as an ordinary seaman in the Republic of the Fiji Navy.
Nailolo, who transitioned from the 15s format, had a significant breakthrough last year when she debuted for the Fijiana 15s at the World Cup. The Fijiana team will face tough competition in the Singapore 7s, as they are pooled with Australia, Japan, and the USA in Pool A.
In addition to this, both the Fiji men’s and women’s teams are scheduled to participate in the Coral Coast 7s tournament in Sigatoka next week, which will provide further competitive opportunities for the athletes.
This development highlights the dynamic nature of women’s rugby in Fiji and the ongoing commitment to growing talent across formats, reinforcing the possibility of continued success on the global stage.
