Seven young individuals from Fiji, aged between 18 and 22, are set to attend the Republic Day Camp in India as part of the Youth Exchange Program scheduled from January 16 to 29. This initiative, organized by the High Commission of India, strengthens the longstanding cultural ties between India and Fiji while empowering the youth through enriching global experiences.

The participants, affiliated with the Fiji National Youth Band, will have the unique opportunity to attend the Republic Day Parade on January 26, which showcases India’s military achievements and cultural diversity. Jese Saukuru, Fiji’s Minister for Youth and Sports, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Indian government for making this cultural exchange possible, emphasizing the deep-rooted relationship shared between Fiji and India.

Minister Saukuru noted, “We have a long history that we treasure deeply,” highlighting how this initiative allows Fijian youth to learn about India’s democratic values. “It’s an opportunity for our young people to witness firsthand how democracy plays its part in the world, and we are very thankful that India is leading us in that.”

Neerupma Kararha, the Charge d’Affaires of the Indian High Commission, expressed her happiness in facilitating the fourth batch of participants for this program. She mentioned that they would not only explore India’s rich culture but also meet youths from 20 different countries during their stay. This cultural exchange aims to foster friendships and broaden their understanding of global cultures.

The participants will engage in several activities, including visits to significant cultural and historical landmarks in India, notably including Agra, to see the iconic Taj Mahal. Such experiences are poised to enhance their appreciation for varied cultures and create lasting international bonds.

This program serves as a meaningful testament to the commitment both nations share in nurturing youth through global diplomacy and cultural exchanges. It beautifully encapsulates the potential for cooperation and collective growth, creating hope for upcoming generations to learn and connect across cultural boundaries.

In summary, the initiative is a significant stride towards enriching Fiji’s youth, enabling them to build friendships that transcend borders and celebrating the diverse contributions of various cultures in a global context.

The excitement surrounding this opportunity reflects a positive outlook on cross-cultural collaboration, emphasizing the importance of understanding and connecting with different societies in an increasingly interconnected world.
