Fijian Youth Set to Experience India’s Rich Culture at Republic Day Camp

Seven young Fijians, aged 18 to 22, will partake in the Republic Day Camp in India as part of the Youth Exchange Program from January 16 to 29. This initiative, organized by the High Commission of India, aims to enhance the enduring cultural and diplomatic relations between India and Fiji, empowering the youth through immersive global experiences.

The Fijian participants, affiliated with the Fiji National Youth Band, are set to attend the Republic Day Parade on January 26, a noteworthy event that celebrates India’s military strength and cultural diversity. Minister for Youth and Sports, Jese Saukuru, expressed profound gratitude toward the Indian government for facilitating this opportunity, emphasizing the cherished history and bond between the two nations.

Minister Saukuru remarked, “We have a long history that we treasure deeply… It’s an opportunity for our young people to witness firsthand how democracy plays its part in the world, and we are very thankful that India is leading us in that.”

Neerupma Kararha, the Charge d’Affaires of the Indian High Commission, also expressed her happiness in facilitating the fourth batch of Fijian youth for this program. She highlighted how participants would gain valuable insights into India’s rich cultural tapestry while engaging with youths from 20 different countries. They will also visit significant cultural and historical sites within India, including the iconic city of Agra, known for the Taj Mahal.

This cultural exchange program represents a significant commitment toward nurturing future leaders and promoting mutual understanding among diverse cultures. It offers Fijian youths a unique chance to broaden their horizons, create lasting friendships, and foster collaborative relationships across international boundaries.

In summary, this initiative not only enriches the participants’ experiences but also serves as an inspiring reminder of the potential for international collaboration and the importance of cultural exchange in an increasingly interconnected world. It highlights the hope for future generations to build bridges and nurture understanding through such meaningful encounters.
