Fijian swimmer David Young achieved an impressive milestone at the 2024 Paris Olympics by setting a new national record and a personal best in the Men’s 50m Freestyle.
The 19-year-old swimmer recorded a time of 22.71 seconds, surpassing his previous best of 22.87 seconds set at the 2023 World Aquatic Championships in Fukuoka, Japan.
Young’s remarkable performance saw him leading heat 5, competing among the world’s elite swimmers.
Despite the tough competition, he finished 40th out of 73 swimmers.
