Parisha Singh has made a remarkable achievement as the first Fijian international student to receive the NSW International Student Leadership Award, a recognition that honors outstanding leadership and academic achievements. This accolade was presented to her on March 11, 2025, marking a significant milestone in her educational journey.
Parisha’s academic path started at Nehru Memorial Primary School in Suva, followed by her attendance at Jai Narayan College. She then moved to Sydney, where she completed her senior secondary education at John Edmondson High School in Liverpool. Parisha is currently a medical student at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney, dedicated to her ambition of becoming a doctor.
Her exceptional leadership abilities and academic excellence led to her nomination for the award by John Edmondson High School, where she stood out among more than 4,000 international students, emerging as one of the top six finalists before ultimately winning the prestigious award.
In her acceptance speech, Parisha expressed deep appreciation for her parents, especially her father, Pranil Singh, who serves as the Acting CEO of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission, stating that her father’s values of resilience and hard work have been instrumental in her journey. She also acknowledged her mother’s unwavering support and her Aunty Maya Shandil for assisting her adaptation to life in a new city.
Parisha’s success is not only a testament to her hard work but also a proud moment for Fiji, serving as an inspiration for aspiring students. Her story underscores the significant role of family support and determination in achieving academic success.
