Parisha Singh has achieved a remarkable milestone by becoming the first Fijian international student to be awarded the prestigious NSW International Student Leadership Award. The accolade, which honors exceptional leadership and academic success among international students, was presented to her on March 11, 2025.
Parisha, the daughter of Pranil Singh, Acting CEO of the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission, and Kaushalia Singh, exemplifies a commitment to education and a desire to positively impact the world. Her educational journey began at Nehru Memorial Primary School in Suva, continued at Jai Narayan College, and ultimately took her to Sydney, where she now studies medicine at the University of New South Wales.
Parisha’s outstanding leadership qualities and academic achievements led her former school, John Edmondson High School, to nominate her for this prestigious award. Out of over 4,000 international students competing across New South Wales, she excelled to become one of the top six finalists before securing the award itself.
Acknowledging her success, Parisha expressed deep gratitude for her parents’ support, citing her father as her greatest inspiration. His belief and encouragement have helped her navigate challenges and pursue her dreams with confidence. She also spoke fondly of her mother’s sacrifices, recognizing them as the cornerstone of her achievements.
Parisha’s story reflects the power of dedication and the importance of family support in shaping a successful path. Similar narratives are seen among other notable Fijian students, such as Priyashna Shivangi Sagar, who recently received the Best Student Award for her Bachelor of Commerce, illustrating that commitment to education can lead to remarkable achievements, even against personal and financial challenges.
This serves not only as an inspiring tale for students but also highlights the incredible potential that exists when individuals strive for excellence with the backing of their families. Parisha’s journey symbolizes hope and determination, encouraging others to pursue their aspirations relentlessly.
Overall, the stories of Parisha and her peers underscore a fundamental truth: with the right support and unwavering dedication, anyone can achieve great heights in their educational and professional pursuits.
