Fijian Stars Shine in Weekend Rugby Battles

Fijian athletes showcased their talents across various leagues in Europe and Japan this past Sunday, making significant contributions to their respective teams.

In the Top 14 rugby league in Europe, a total of six Fijian players took part in the match between La Rochelle and Perpignan. Tavite Veredamu scored his third try of the season, helping Perpignan secure a 21-13 victory over La Rochelle. Along with Veredamu, Alicereti Daugunu and Apisai Naqalevu also participated. For La Rochelle, veteran flanker Levani Botia made a notable impact with a try in the 51st minute and three turnovers won during the match, while Simelui Daunivucu and Suliasi Vunivalu played key roles as well.

Meanwhile, in another match, Semi Radradra scored his first try of the season for Lyon, contributing to the team’s 15-all draw against Racing 92. Vinaya Habosi and Josua Tuisova represented Racing, with Tuisova demonstrating strong defensive skills and forcing two turnovers.

In Japan’s League One competition, Seta Tamanivalu shined for Toshiba Brave Lupus by scoring two tries in their commanding 61-8 victory over Mitsubishi Dynaboars. Tamanivalu’s exceptional performance also included setting up a try for teammate Jona Naikabula. Unfortunately for the Dynaboars, player Epeneri Uluiviti received a red card during the match.

Additionally, Michael Little delivered an impressive display against Canon Eagles, earning the Man of the Match title in a 36-18 win. In that game, he accumulated 122 meters from nine carries, noted three line breaks, and assisted with a try while also claiming two turnovers. Viliame Takayawa from Canon Eagles had a notable performance as well, scoring two tries and totaling three tries in the opening two games of the season.

Overall, the strong performances of these Fijian players on international turf highlight their growing presence in the global rugby scene, and fans can look forward to more exciting contributions in future matches.
