Fijian Stars Shine in Global Rugby Action!

Fijian rugby players made notable contributions in their respective competitions in Europe and Japan this past Sunday.

In the Top 14 league in France, a match between La Rochelle and Perpignan showcased the talent of six Fijian athletes. Tavite Veredamu scored his third try of the season, helping Perpignan secure a 21-13 victory and move up to 12th place. Alongside him, Alicereti Daugunu and Apisai Naqalevu made impactful appearances. Meanwhile, La Rochelle’s veteran flanker Levani Botia demonstrated his experience with a try at the 51st minute and key defensive plays including three turnovers. Simelui Daunivucu and Suliasi Vunivalu also featured for La Rochelle, which is currently positioned 6th in the league.

Further highlights from Sunday came from Lyon, where Semi Radradra scored his first try of the season in a 15-all draw against Racing 92. Radradra’s performance stood out as the winger contributed significantly, while teammates Vinaya Habosi and Josua Tuisova showcased strong defensive skills.

In Japan’s League One, centre Seta Tamanivalu was a star for Toshiba Brave Lupus, scoring two tries in a commanding 61-8 victory over Mitsubishi Dynaboars. His impressive performance included setting up a try for Jona Naikabula. The game took a serious turn when Dynaboars lock Epeneri Uluiviti was shown a red card.

Michael Little also shined over the weekend, playing a key role in his team’s 36-18 win against Canon Eagles. His outstanding performance earned him the Man of the Match title, marked by significant stats including 122 meters gained and multiple line breaks. Viliame Takayawa from Canon Eagles also made his mark by scoring two tries, demonstrating the competitive nature and talent present in the league.
