Sireli Maqala, the fullback for the Flying Fijians, delivered an outstanding performance by scoring the try-of-the-match, leading Bayonne to a commanding 37-7 victory over La Rochelle in their Top 14 encounter at Stade Jean Dauger yesterday.
Maqala, who played as an outside center, showcased his skills by initiating and concluding a remarkable length-of-the-field attack, culminating in a stylish dive into the corner for his try in the 50th minute.
Bayonne established their dominance in the first half with tries from Aurelien Callandret, Facundo Bosch, Camille Lopez, a penalty try, and additional contributions from their flyhalf, who successfully converted two attempts and added a penalty.
La Rochelle managed to score a single consolation try in the 71st minute, with Alexandre Kuntelia crossing the line and Ihaia West converting the effort.
