Fijian rugby player Luke Tagi has signed a new contract with Aviron Bayonnais, extending his stay at the Basque club until 2028. Tagi, who joined Bayonne last season, has had an impressive journey since moving to France, initially starting with Stade Francais in 2019. During his time there, he made 18 first-team appearances over two seasons before transferring to Aix-en-Provence in ProD2. His tenure at Provence was significant, as he excelled over two seasons with 45 league appearances and eight tries.
Tagi’s return to the Top 14 was marked by his performance with Bayonne, following a standout display at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, where he established himself as a world-class talent. The club expressed enthusiasm about Tagi’s presence in the team, and Team BSMI extended congratulations to both him and his fiancé, Stella, for the new chapter ahead, promising more excitement on and off the field.
Looking ahead, Tagi’s continued commitment to Aviron Bayonnais signals a bright future for both him and the club, potentially setting the stage for further successes in French rugby.
This development not only highlights Tagi’s individual growth as a player but also strengthens Bayonne’s roster as they aim for greater achievements in the upcoming seasons.
