Fijian rugby player Luke Tagi has extended his stay with Aviron Bayonnais, signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until 2028. The Basque club announced this significant update, highlighting Tagi’s journey in professional rugby that began in Paris in 2019 when he joined Stade Francais.
During his tenure at Stade Francais, Tagi made 18 appearances over two seasons before transitioning to Aix-en-Provence in ProD2. There, he enjoyed considerable success, featuring in 45 league matches and scoring eight tries. His performances earned him a return to the prestigious Top 14 with Bayonne, where he has continued to make a mark.
Tagi also shone on the international stage, playing a pivotal role for the Flying Fijians in the 2023 Rugby World Cup, where he displayed his exceptional skills, solidifying his reputation as a world-class talent. The club expressed confidence that his influence will remain significant within the team.
In addition to his professional achievements, Team BSMI congratulated Luke and his fiancé, Stella, on this promising new chapter, both in their personal lives and his rugby career.
This extension is not just a win for Tagi but also a testament to the commitment Aviron Bayonnais has to nurturing talent, promising an exciting future for both the player and the club.
