Fijian Drua utility back Tuidraki Samusamuvodre is optimistic about the upcoming 2025 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season after overcoming an ankle injury that sidelined him for the entire previous season.
Samusamuvodre sustained the injury during the opening match of the Super Rugby season against the Blues, who ultimately claimed the championship. Following his rehabilitation, he made a successful return to the field, playing for Nadi in both the Skipper Cup competition and the Inkk Mobile Farebrother Challenge.
Reflecting on his past season, Samusamuvodre expressed regret about not being able to play at the No.12 position, a role he has previously held. The former captain of the Fiji Warriors shared some challenges of his recovery, including damaged veins that prolonged his rehabilitation process. However, he remained determined to get back on the field.
He noted, “I had to undergo a scan… it took a long time to recover and to be cleared.” While he is comfortable playing multiple positions, he emphasized his proficiency at No.10. He expressed willingness to adhere to the coaching staff’s decisions about his position on the team.
Instead of opting for surgery, Samusamuvodre focused on a structured rehabilitation process, which he believes has aided his recovery.
As he looks ahead, Samusamuvodre’s positive attitude and commitment to the team position him to make a significant impact in the upcoming season. His experience and versatility will undoubtedly be valuable assets for the Fijian Drua as they aim for success in the competition.
This situation highlights the importance of resilience and determination in the face of challenges, with Samusamuvodre’s journey serving as an inspiring example for athletes everywhere.
