The Fijian Drua has officially announced the signing of Vuate Karawalevu, a 23-year-old utility back, on a full-time contract. Karawalevu recently made his debut for the Flying Fijians during the Pacific Nations Cup match against Samoa, where he showcased his skills by scoring a try in Fiji’s 42-16 victory.
Previously, he represented the Fiji Bati team at the age of 20 during the 2021 Rugby League World Cup in England. Last season, he played for the NSW Waratahs in Super Rugby Pacific. Karawalevu came through the ranks at Marist Brothers High School and played first five-eighth for Naitasiri, leading them to the grand-final in the Skipper Cup 2020.
He has also spent time with the Kaiviti Silktails in the Ron Massey Cup, North Sydney Bears in the NSW Cup, and was part of the Sydney Roosters setup in the National Rugby League (NRL).
Karawalevu expressed his excitement about joining the Drua, stating it is an honor to play for his home team and that he is eager to perform for the fans. He looks forward to this new chapter in his career and appreciates the opportunity to represent his roots.
