Tevita Ikanivere, co-captain of the Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, has been awarded the prestigious 2024 Player of the Year title at the Annual Pasifika Hall of Fame ceremony in Auckland. He shares the honor with Manusina Samoa’s captain, Masuisuimatama’ali’i Tauasa-Pauaraisa. Unfortunately, Ikanivere is currently recovering from an injury and will not participate in this week’s Round 9 Super Rugby Pacific match against the Highlanders.

With Ikanivere and fellow co-captain Frank Lomani sidelined, Mesulame Dolokoto and Iosefo Masi have been appointed as co-captains for the upcoming game. The Drua will take on the Highlanders in Dunedin, and the match is scheduled to be broadcast live on FBC Sports.

Reflecting on Ikanivere’s recent achievements, it’s clear that his leadership and exceptional skills have made a significant impact on the team. His recognition as Player of the Year not only highlights his personal dedication but also symbolizes the strength of Fijian rugby and its community.

Fans can look forward to an exciting game as the Drua aims to continue its competitive spirit despite facing challenges. The team is building a bright future, bolstered by emerging talents ready to step up and shine on the rugby stage.
