Fijian winger Vinaya Habosi has not faced any charges following his arrest on domestic violence allegations, but reports from France indicate that he may be suspended by his club, Racing 92. Habosi was released after his partner chose not to file a complaint against him.
The incident reportedly began with an argument between Habosi and his wife, during which he allegedly pushed her while she was holding their baby. Witnesses have claimed that after his wife fell, Habosi struck her in the back of the head. Fortunately, the baby was unharmed, and Habosi’s partner did not require assistance from emergency services and appeared to have no visible injuries.
It has been noted that Habosi was likely intoxicated during the incident, although he contended that he did not push or physically harm his wife.
In response to the situation, Racing 92 released a statement acknowledging the allegations against Habosi and indicated that they would refrain from making further comments until they receive additional information from the appropriate authorities. If he is found guilty, it is anticipated that his contract with the club, led by Stuart Lancaster, could be terminated.
Habosi, who made his international debut for Fiji in 2022, participated in the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France. He joined Racing 92 in 2023 after his contract with the Fijian Drua was severed due to a serious breach of their conduct code, which included prior allegations related to domestic abuse.
