Jioji Nasova, the men’s rugby sevens player from Team Fiji, is the only player in his squad who debuted in the HSBC SVNS series this year. He has now received confirmation of his participation in the Paris Olympic Games occurring from July 26 to August 11.

The 23-year-old expressed his affection for the Hong Kong Sevens, where he initially played. “My debut games were in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Madrid,” shared Nasova with SUNsports.

Nasova expressed gratitude towards his coaches for trusting him to showcase Fiji in one of the world’s top competitions – the Olympics. “Those of us who have been selected to represent Fiji in France have worked hard towards retaining the gold medal. Fiji has won this twice consecutively, and we aim for a third win,” said Nasova.

Originally from Toge in Ba, Nasova played for Beijing RC for a year in 2023. He was scouted while playing for Dominion Brothers. He shared, “I played in the Suva 10s, and a coach from China noticed me resulting in my contract.”

Nasova’s schooling was at Toge Primary and subsequently Nukuloa College and Ba Provincial Freebird Institute. Here, he participated in rugby league. However, his tenure was brief as he was chosen to play for Naitasiri Under-20 in the Skipper Cup competition.
