Fijian Police Officers Graduated from UK Leadership Training

The first group of Fijian Police officers in middle supervisory roles has successfully completed the Leadership Training facilitated by the prestigious UK College of Policing.

The training for the Central Division was concluded by the British High Commissioner to Fiji, His Excellency Dr. Brian Jones, who noted that the training represents ongoing collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies.

“It’s a partnership that will grow and evolve. As you advance through the ranks, elements of UK training, whether specialized or leadership-focused, will continue to be integrated,” he said.

In the Western Division, the training was wrapped up by the Director of Training and Education, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Serepepeli Neiko. He emphasized the importance for every officer, regardless of rank, to make informed decisions based on best practices.

“While discussions are formalized at the strategic level, it is upon you to operationalize the outcomes. To effectively align with the organization’s strategic direction, you need the necessary tools to lead as first-line leaders,” SSP Neiko stated.

“First-line leaders bear a significant responsibility, as you are expected to implement the strategic intent of our organization.”

He further highlighted the importance of preparing officers for future challenges with the help of the UK College of Policing, which has equipped them with tools to support their professional development and enhance leadership skills.

The UK College of Policing has committed to bringing its specialized leadership training to Fiji this year, specifically targeting supervisors and middle management.
