The first group of Fijian Police officers in middle supervisor roles has successfully completed the Leadership Training facilitated by the renowned UK College of Policing.
At the closing ceremony for the Central Division training, British High Commissioner to Fiji, Dr. Brian Jones, emphasized that this training is a continuation of collaborative efforts between law enforcement agencies.
“It’s a partnership that is going to grow and continue to develop. As you progress through the ranks, there will be elements of UK training, whether it is specialized or focused on leadership,” he stated.
The Western Division training was concluded by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Serepepeli Neiko, Director of Training and Education, who stressed the importance for officers at every rank to make sound decisions based on best practices.
“While discussions will be formalized at the strategic level, the implementation of these outcomes is where all of you come in. To effectively carry out your roles in alignment with the organization’s strategic direction, you need to have the necessary tools to lead as first-line leaders,” said SSP Neiko.
“First-line leaders bear a significant burden, as you are expected to operationalize the strategic intent of our organization. You are the future of this organization, and it is our duty to prepare you for what lies ahead. With the support of our friends from the UK College of Policing, you have been provided with the tools to support your professional development and enhance your leadership skills and performance.”
The UK College of Policing has committed to bringing its specialized leadership training to Fiji this year, with a particular focus on supervisors and middle management.
