Fijian Peacekeepers: Safety Assured Amidst Middle East Conflict

The Acting Minister for Home Affairs, Filimoni Vosarogo, has confirmed that Fijian peacekeepers stationed in the Middle East are safe amid rising tensions between Israel and Iran. He emphasized the significance of their security, particularly following the recent call for a ceasefire from the UN General Secretary.

Vosarogo highlighted the importance of security protocols for peacekeepers, especially with the recent airstrikes by Iran in Israeli airspace. He noted that the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF) has provided updates on the circumstances surrounding the Fijian peacekeepers in the region.

The peacekeepers, deployed in Lebanon, Syria’s Golan Heights, Jerusalem, and Sinai, are remaining vigilant as the situation evolves. Mr. Vosarogo has also encouraged the public to keep these peacekeepers in their thoughts and prayers, given the precarious state of stability in the Middle East.
