Fijian Peacekeepers Remain Safe Amid Middle East Turmoil

Acting Minister for Home Affairs Filimoni Vosarogo has confirmed that Fijian peacekeepers stationed in the Middle East are safe, despite the rising tensions between Israel and Iran. He emphasized the importance of the safety of these peacekeepers, particularly in light of recent developments in the region.

Vosarogo reiterated the United Nations General Secretary’s call for a complete ceasefire, underscoring the critical nature of security protocols for Fijian personnel on peacekeeping missions amid the increased hostility, especially following Iranian airstrikes in Israeli airspace.

He noted that he has been updated by the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces regarding the situation of peacekeepers in Lebanon, Syria, the Golan Heights, Jerusalem, and Sinai, highlighting their vigilance in monitoring the evolving circumstances.

With the stability of the region hanging in the balance, Vosarogo has called on citizens to keep the peacekeepers in their thoughts and prayers.
