Fijian Peacekeepers Assured Safe Amid Middle East Tensions

The Acting Minister for Home Affairs, Filimoni Vosarogo, has confirmed that Fijian peacekeepers stationed in the Middle East are safe amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. He emphasized the importance of their safety in light of the UN General Secretary’s call for an immediate ceasefire in the region.

Vosarogo noted that with the rising tensions, highlighted by recent airstrikes from Iran into Israeli airspace, ensuring the safety of peacekeeping personnel remains a top priority. He indicated that the Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces has provided updates regarding the situation of peacekeepers deployed in Lebanon, Syria, the Golan Heights, Jerusalem, and Sinai, all of whom are maintaining heightened vigilance.

The Minister also encouraged citizens to keep the peacekeepers in their thoughts and prayers, as the stability of the region faces significant challenges.
