The Fijian Parliament has approved the 2024-25 National Budget with 38 members voting in favor.
Bill 7 of 2024, which allocates $3,955,819,479 for the fiscal year ending on 31 July 2025, was read for the third time by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Professor Biman Prasad before the vote took place.
Independent Opposition Members of Parliament who supported the bill include Aliki Bia, Mosese Bulitavu, Shalen Kumar, Ioane Naivalurua, Viliame Naupoto, Penioni Ravunawa, Taito Rokomatu, Alipate Tuicolo, Naisa Tuinaceva, and Ratu Josaia Niudamu.
Meanwhile, 11 Members of Parliament voted against the budget, and 2 abstained from voting.
