Rinesh Sharma, a Member of Parliament from the opposition, recently participated in the 35th anniversary celebration of the Dalai Lama receiving the Nobel Peace Prize in Tibet. Reflecting on his trip to Dharamsala, where the Dalai Lama resides, Mr. Sharma described the experience as akin to “walking into heaven.”
During his visit, he expressed deep gratitude to the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) for the opportunity and highlighted the importance of the trip in fostering shared values and aspirations between Fiji and the Tibetan community. Mr. Sharma referred to the Dalai Lama as a global symbol of peace and non-violence, recognizing his constant dedication to peaceful conflict resolution.
He stated, “Peace is not only a noble vision for humanity; it is a call to action.” Mr. Sharma characterized his journey to Dharamsala as the beginning of a fruitful partnership between Fiji and the CTA, focused on promoting shared values, cultural diplomacy, and strategic collaboration.
